Metawell® – UNIVERSALLY USED

Metawell® aluminium sandwich elements are almost universally usable in rail vehicle construction. They combine a low weight with high bending strength and dimensional stability, satisfy the highest fire safety requirements and can be used for sound attenuation.

With their high-grade, coatable and printable surfaces, Metawell® aluminium sandwich elements also accommodate design. The easily formable Metawell® Aluflex® also allows the realisation of elaborately configured sandwich constructions.

Ceilings and walls
Metawell® aluminium sandwich elements are lightweight, strong and dimensionally stable. Therefore, for installation in wall and ceiling constructions, a few fastening points are sufficient. Coated, painted or laminated surfaces, invisible fastening elements such as hidden rivets and several edge variants open up multiple possibilities for creative design.

Floors
Floor panels in rail vehicles must withstand enormous distributed loads as well as extreme point loads. Their stability must suffice to securely fasten elements such as grab poles or seat assemblies. With their bending strength, the floor panels are intended to reduce the spans while being as light as possible.

Developed especially for this broad range of requirements, the Metawell® sandwich panel combines unique strength in the core material and cover sheets with a low intrinsic weight.

Sheatings and enclosures
Sheets and core material of the sandwich panels are protected against corrosion. Consequently, they are also suitable as a base material for enclosures and sheatings – components that are especially strained by wind, weather and other exterior influences.

Built-in elements
Metawell® aluminium sandwich elements are well-suited for use as substrates for tables, seats and racks – not least because of their enormous stability, which provides good protection against vandalism.

Entry aids
Entry areas of public transportation vehicles need to withstand a lot: extreme loads are often distributed unevenly or pointedly. In addition, the weather and contact with corrosive substances such as road salt are a factor. The corrosion-protected Metawell® aluminium panels have already proven themselves effective a thousand times over in ramps, sliding steps (including cover panels) and lift systems.
